How to debug problems

If there's something going wrong with AccuRadio or Iceberg Radio, we want to know about it! You can help us fix problems faster by providing us with error data using debugging tools in your web browser. Here's how to find that info:

Google Chrome

First go to AccuRadio.com.

You don't need to install anything new on Chrome to find errors. Simply click the wrench icon in the upper right-hand corner of the browser ("Customize and control Google Chrome"). In the drop-down menu that appears, mouse-over the "Tools" option. A sub-menu will appear. Click "Developer Tools."

A window will appear in the bottom half of your browser window. There are several options along the top row of this new window ("Elements," "Resources," etc.)

Click the "Console" option.

Now try to replicate the error in AccuRadio.com

Afterwards, copy everything in the Console window and send it to mschmitt@accuradio.com or post the info to any discussion thread about the problem. We'll look through the text to figure out what's going wrong.

Mozilla Firefox

First please install a Firefox plug-in called Firebug (found here).

Once installed, you should see a new button in your browser's nav bar at the far right with a ladybug (or beetle?). Click this button.

A window will appear in the bottom half of your browser window. Make sure "Console" is selected within this window. Then click "Errors" in the row of options that starts with "Clear," "Persist," etc.

Now refresh AccuRadio or Iceberg Radio and try to replicate the problem you were experiencing.

Once you have experienced the problem again, copy any text that has appeared in the bottom Firebug window. Send this text to mschmitt@accuradio.com or post the info to any discussion thread about the problem. We'll look through the text to figure out what's going wrong.

Internet Explorer 9

You don't need to install anything new on IE9 to find errors. Simply click the gear icon in the upper right-hand corner of the browser (or press the keys ALT and X at the same time).

In the drop-down menu that appears, click "F12 Developer Tools."

A window will appear in the bottom half of your browser window. You should see several options in a blue row that starts with "HTML," "CSS." Click the "Console" option (third from the left).

Now refresh AccuRadio or Iceberg Raido and try to replicate the problem you're experiencing.

Once you've encountered the problem again, copy all the text that's appeared in the Console window (if any) and send it to mschmitt@accuradio.com or post the info to any discussion thread about the problem. We'll look through the text to figure out what's going wrong.
